What a great picture! From the look of the giant ornaments hanging from the ceiling, this must have been around Christmas--
My first reaction is that it is Mariner Mall in Superior Wisconsin, but I bet there are a ton of malls that looked exactly like that.

It looks a lot like Harlem-Irving Shopping Center in Chicago, IL.
Very generic-looking mall.

Looks like the Richmond Mall in Richmond Heights, Ohio. It's since been remodeled.
It also looks like it could be the Pembroke Mall in Virginia Beach, VA -- although I'm new to the area and don't know anything about the history of Pembroke, except that it was recently remodeled.
hey I beleive thats the Universal Mall in hazel park, i used to work mall maintence back in 1980's, I think the mall is closed now.
I don't know where it is. But, I do think I see an aluminum Christmas tree in the center. I never seen a Ben Franklin inside a mall though. Only in a downtown.

Bad Cat: that was my reaction, too, that it was the Mariner Mall. But, the Mariner never had those shell seats, they had brick planters with wood integrated benches.
Definitely not Harlem-Irving Plaza in Chicago (The "HIP")--I spent my childhood there and there was no Ben Franklin or carpeting or furniture like that.
Definitely not Pembroke Mall in Virginia Beach. It looked nothing like that.
